Assessing the Effect of Payment Parity on Telehealth Usage at Community Health Centers During COVID-19

Many states have adjusted their payment regulations to support increases in the usage of telehealth during the pandemic in order to make sure that patients have access to remote care. Prior research has suggested that reimbursement parity requirements are associated with higher levels of telehealth adoption, but more research is needed to verify how such policies might impact the adoption of telehealth at community health centers.

This abstract describes a study that analyzed community health center data from January 2019 to February 2021 to examine what factors were positively associated with telehealth usage and to determine whether reimbursement parity requirements were associated with a greater likelihood of community health centers utilizing telehealth.
