The National Sample Survey of Registered Nurses (NSSRN) is the longest-running survey and primary source of data on the nursing workforce in the US. In this webinar, representatives from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) provided an overview of the NSSRN, including its history, purpose, and key findings from the most recent survey. HWTAC Director David Armstrong also shared findings from a recent study that utilized 2022 NSSRN data to examine salary differences between nursing faculty and clinical nurses, highlighting significant disparities in nursing educator compensation. To conclude, presenters offered an exciting glimpse into the 2026 NSSRN, which is currently underway. This preview highlights enhancements to the questionnaire and provides attendees with a sense of what to expect from the latest data collection efforts.
