Peer support services have become an increasingly important component of behavioral health care, with growing evidence supporting their effectiveness in helping individuals recover from mental health and substance use challenges. As demand for these services has expanded, particularly following the COVID-19 pandemic, there is increasing need to better understand how Certified Peer Support Specialists (CPSSs) are trained and prepared for their roles. Despite the widespread adoption of peer support services across all 50 states, evidence regarding the most effective training delivery methods remains limited.
This article examines the effectiveness and perceived value of different training modalities for Certified Peer Support Specialists in the South Atlantic and East South-Central regions of the United States.
