Dr. Cynthia Bienemy is the Director of the Louisiana Center for Nursing at the Louisiana State Board of Nursing where she is charged with collecting, analyzing, and reporting on the registered nurse (RN) and advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) workforce. Dr. Bienemy addresses issues related to nursing education capacity, nurse supply, and nurse demand. She serves as co-lead for the Louisiana Action Coalition and lead for the Louisiana Action Coalition’s Diversity Steering Committee which focuses on increasing the diversity of Louisiana’s RN and APRN workforce. Dr. Bienemy has served as the President, Immediate Past-President and Board member for the National Forum of State Nursing Workforce Centers and Chair of the Louisiana Health Works Commission. Dr. Bienemy is the current Chair of Louisiana’s Nursing Supply and Demand Council and serves as a member of the National Advisory Council for Nursing Education and Practice. Dr. Bienemy is an American Nurses Association Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration Ethnic Minority Fellow Alumnus and was a 2018 Louisiana Nurses Foundation Nightingale Hall of Fame Inductee. Prior to becoming the first Director of the Louisiana Center for Nursing, Dr. Bienemy was an Associate Professor in the Graduate Nursing Program at Southern University and A & M College.
